A rare and highly collectable Persian Azerbaijan Soumak rug dating to circa 1960, featuring a bold nomadic composition with geometric medallions, stylised animals, birds and traditional tribal motifs across a rich red field. The strong drawing and vibrant palette give the piece exceptional decorative character and authenticity.

Woven in Persia using an all-wool construction, this rug reflects the traditional flatwoven Soumak technique associated with nomadic and village weaving in the Azerbaijan region. Its distinctive imagery, age and craftsmanship make it a desirable collector’s piece as well as a durable decorative rug.
